A love story (Short story)

It was a bright afternoon, her phone was flooded with 10 missed calls from her mom.
As she was an invigilator of that exam hall, she couldn’t attend or see those calls.
Finally, after her duties of Collecting answer sheets, Registering the count of students who wrote the exam and surrendering it to the data room, Every professor rushed to the staff room to pick up their bags and ran to the college bus, which was ready to leave the place, she entered the bus and checked her phone and contacted her mother and questioned: “What happened, mom?”
She replied, “We had an emergency phone call from your grandfather that your grandmother is sick, so we have to visit here, Just go home and sit at the portico, we’ll be back after 3 hours!”.
Thoughts rambled around her, “I felt I had to use the restroom at first, but I didn’t have keys to open the house, Where would I go? Why didn’t they hand the keys to the neighbours? I’m hungry too, what will I do for these three hours?”.
Thinking about these things, her eyes became wet and she texted one of her friends as both of them know each other through Instagram, he studied in her college but at that time never talked, but a few days back he gave a request to her and she accepted that, they became online friends. She shared those happenings, and suddenly he replied, “I’ll come to accompany you if you wish” She, initially hesitated but after time passed she agreed, she had never met that fellow before, not even hearing his voice.
So this may be their first meeting, she chose a common cafe in their city.
She purchased Chicken fries and puffs for him and waited for him, he came after 10 minutes slowly towards the third floor of the mall cafe.
She looked at a figure walking whimperingly on the escalator, she’s shocked that it was him.
He had fractured his legs during a game as he’s a cricketer and he never mentioned it to me. On looking at the capped guy I asked him “Why didn’t you say about your fracture before? If you informed me before, I wouldn’t let you strain!”.
He replied “I wanted to meet you, that’s why I came with my friend’s help”
They took a few selfies and had some snacks and she informed him about tomorrow’s exam at a college outside the city as it’s a holiday he said that he could also accompany her.
She replied, “Why do you strain yourself?”
He simply said, “Due to my fracture, I’ve to stay back at my house, it’s too boring to sit and watch everyone around me moving”.
The next morning she picked up him at a junction and they both spoke a lot on her bike, some of her friends enquired about him at the centre, where she introduced him as her cousin. The exam lasted for 3 hours, he waited for her, these times. Then they had lunch together and sang songs together.
Discussed politics, cinema, life etc.
She talked about her past of loving a guy, who saw her as a friend and the story never worked.
He discussed a girl, he had a love interest in her, but she loved his friend.
They went to a place where automatic bowling was available for cricketers.
They enjoyed the times there and it grew dark and she left him at the same junction.
From the next day, her daily routine pursued her, she got on the college bus at 8 AM reached college and followed her timetable for classes.
During free periods she checked her phone, where his message notifications popped up, she found herself over-excited about his message, they were not just online friends anymore.
Weeks and Months ran, she belonged to rightist policies and principles, she felt herself to be cultural, he belonged to leftist policies and principles, and he wanted every woman to be modern.
So whenever the discussion goes by the side, it ends up in character assassination talks and fights. After a few fights, she shed tears for him and felt the truth, She was in love with him. She planned to propose.
That was the afternoon time when she texted him and he was going to a nearby town via train with his father.
She said, “My elder sister is pregnant now, I’m going to be an aunt for that kid”.
He congratulated her and then she asked “Will you be the uncle of that kid?”.
Few seconds there were no messages, her eyes were waiting for it.
He replied, “Will you marry me?”
Tears rolled out of her face and said “Yeah!! I do”.
Dreams and happiness ran in her eyes, she immediately wanted to meet him, At her birthday, he came to meet her at the college bus stop.
She took him a ride and both of them exchanged their love by kisses.
Then days ran in charm and love, both were possessive of each other. But all those end up in closeness.
Due to her work burden, her parents asked her to relieve herself from work and join a coaching class near her house.
He was unemployed so she wanted to place him in a job and then she thought he could come to her parents and ask for their daughter.
In coaching class he got a new girl as her close friend, she was also in a relationship with a policeman, who helped many aspirants.
So she asked her friend for advice for those who are in the field of games.
Her friend is also relevant to helping her, but one thing started to change, he was not listening to her words in means of job.
She never understood “Why he was not serious and interested in any job? he just wanted to be a weekend cricketer!”.
At the end of every debate and discussion, she only got hurt as he was not listening to any employment details and he didn’t move a step towards his career.
She once disclosed to him, that at her house their parents were seeking a marriage alliance, but it didn’t turn him over.
She made up her mind, that she couldn’t convince herself because she believed he loved her, but that’s not true, he just used her as a timepass girl, not wanting her seriously in his whole life.
She agreed to marry anyone, the parents showed, so she was arranged to marry an NRI, but lately found he was in a relationship with a girl in a foreign, so the wedding got called off.
Over time, a guy from her relatives proposed to her and he was eagerly awaiting the news of the marriage cancellation. He asked his family for marriage, who never agreed, but he convinced them with three days of fasting and threatened to not return home anymore. On seeing his pure love for her, they agreed to their marriage, now it’s going to be a love marriage.
She happened to narrate the story of her marriage to her boyfriend, who casually asked for the date of marriage and came to her marriage as one of her friends without any distress.
She never knew, What was in his mind, But she loved that fellow truly.
Successful or Failure, True love remains in heart forever.
