Speed thrills but kills
“Speed thrills but kills,” she’d often say,
A cautionary note, in her way,
The phone rang loud, a chilling sound,
A fear within, she’d never found.

With trembling hands, the receiver she took,
“Hello,” she managed her heart a drum,
Then came the news, her world undone.

To the given address, she rushed in dread,
Her son, once lively, is now hanging by a thread,
In the ICU, he fought for his last breath,
A scene that felt like the dance of death.

She held him close when he was small,
Now seeing him, her tears did fall,
A bike they gave against her will,
A decision that brought this bitter chill.

“Drive safe,” she’d said, a mother’s plea,
But now, she watched in agony,
As speed, once thrilling, took its toll,
Her son, no more, his story untold.

तीव्र गति घातक भी

गति हो हमेशा मध्यम
ना रह जाओ बिल्कुल पीछे,
ना हो इतनी तीव्र कि
सब कुछ छूट जाए पीछे तुमसे।

मध्यम मार्ग की सबसे उत्तम,
ऐसा कह गए भगवान बुद्ध,
प्रसन्न रखो मन को हमेशा
छोटी बातों पर ना हो जाओ क्रुद्ध।

अति त्वरित वेग करता है मन को अवश्य रोमांचित
किंतु क्षणांश की छोटी सी चूक भी
कर देती है सब कुछ ध्वस्त।

त्वरित वेग को त्यागो
और निश्चित कदमों से सफलता का मार्ग नापो।

थोड़ा सा जवानी का जोश
एक क्षण में कर देता है अमूल्य जीवन का सूर्य अस्त।

दम ब ख़ुद हैं छोरो की रफ़्तार देख कर
नस्ले नव को खुदी में गिरफ्तार देख कर

मय चढ़ी है सरो पे इनके तुंद रफ़्तारी की
हॅसते हैं बुज़ुर्गो की सुस्त रफ़्तार देख कर

माज़ी से बे ख़बर हैं मुस्तक़बिल से ग़ाफ़िल
दिल लराजता है शौहदो का गुबार देख कर

उड़ते हैं खलाओ में बच्चे बे ख़ौफ़ ओ ख़तर
हौलते माँ बाप हैं अपने सुकुमार देख कर

पछताओगे देखो हमें नासमझ जान के तुम
मानोगे किसी वक़्त ख़ुद को बेज़ार देख कर

Speed thrills but kills

High on speed
It soon turns to overspeeding
Carried away by its thrills
It slowly becomes a drill
Until malevolence takes the wheel
Its harm can never be reversed
The pain can never be forgotten

A little mistake can end it all
Gratifying impulsive desire without a second thought
Loss of life and mutilation on the verge
Just because we decided to be careless for a few seconds
Dreams and ambitions abruptly end

Avoid speed or embrace risk
keep your sanity brisk
Drive with caution
for life is a volatile substance.
